The Deployment and Engineering regional lead will be responsible for a team of engineers implementing new applications and corresponding infrastructure in support of eDiscovery client serving engagements and projects.

The regional lead will guide their team through deployments in EY datacenters, colocation facilities, and Azure Cloud regions. The lead will be a technical expert for the team, providing strong experience in a wide range of technology stacks, as well as acting as a coach & mentor to the individual team members. As such, ideal candidates will possess strong and varied technical experience paired with excellent team leadership and organization.

Candidates must demonstrate an ability to work with diverse technology departments and build relationships between those teams and the engineering staff, as well as an ability to regularly interact with executive business stakeholders.

Special attention will be paid to candidates with experience in the field of eDiscovery applications, infrastructure, and workflow considerations.

Essential job functions:
  • Interface with client serving teams, service delivery PMs, architects, and infosec to design, plan, and build new technologies, products, and applications
  • Review and provide input on architecture design and engineering of new products. Work with client-serving teams on workflow implementation & documentation
  • Work with new vendors to evaluate products, document requirements, and disseminate an understanding of the product to infosec, architects, and others.
  • Assess new project technical requirements and identify hours required for end-to-end implementation and resources to be engaged
  • Act as an SME across a wide range of technologies, including VM infrastructure, networking, storage, MS Active Directory, Azure, and server hardware.
  • Act as knowledge escalation point for troubleshooting where needed, assist with root cause analysis.
  • Coach engineering team members, encouraging growth in their technical skillset as well as confidence to work independently with PMs and client serving teams.
  • Manage engineers working on multiple large and small projects simultaneously, assist them with prioritization & organization, and act as a point of contact for PMs and executive leadership.
  • Manage team Service Now ticket queue, ensuring requests are addressed within SLAs
  • Work closely with regional service delivery lead to set expectations, manage capacity, provide estimations, and review business cases.
  • Have the confidence to balance traditional SDLC best practice with demands to “deploy to production”; showing flexibility where possible, and push-back where greater control is pragmatically required.
  • Act as an ambassador to other EY IT teams to ensure engineering team members are interacting with them effectively.
  • Proactively look for ways to improve engineering team practices, as well as interface points with other parts of the organization
  • Encourage and assist in the work of automating various processes
  • Experience supporting eDiscovery technologies & understanding of process
  • Budget/effort estimation

Mandatory Technical Skills:
  • Microsoft Azure infrastructure build & support experience including VMs, Azure Networking, NSGs, ExpressRoute, Powershell, ADO, CI/CD pipelines etc
  • Strong traditional infrastructure/application troubleshooting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows Server operating systems including 2012 R2-2019
  • Automation frameworks such as Powershell, Powershell DSC, Ansible, Terraform, etc
  • Knowledge of MS stack infrastructure apps including AD, advanced GPO management, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Extensive and demonstrable understanding of core infrastructure concepts including NAS, SAN, DAS, Virtualization, Firewalls, and Infosec tools and concepts such as SOC, Security Baselines, Vulnerability and Penetration testing.
  • Experience with multi-server 3-tier (web, app, DB) application architecture & deployment
  • 5+ years of enterprise application deployment, support, and automation.
  • Advanced MS SQL administration experience (T-SQL, backup/restoration, performance, query tuning, failover clustering, Always-on, etc)

Preferred Technical Skills:
  • Extensive Windows Powershell scripting and automation
  • GIT source-control experience
  • E-Discovery/Data Analytics application knowledge including Relativity, iPro, Nuix, Brainspace, etc
  • Experience with managing large NAS data volumes (3PB +)
  • Experience with enterprise-scale storage solutions (Dell Unity, NetApp, object storage)
  • Strong conceptual networking knowledge including VLANs, subnetting, firewalls, load balancers, proxies, etc
  • Linux OS & enterprise app experience (Tomcat, Apache, HAProxy, patching, batch scripting, etc)
  • Background with Service Now ticketing/ITIL processes
  • Citrix/VDI solution knowledge
  • Identity and authentication workflow technology fundamentals, SAML, OpenID, OAuth, and RSA/Ping.

Soft Skills:
  • Very strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Setting realistic project objectives and maintaining a strong business focus.
  • Sound judgment and analytical ability.
  • Strong documentation skills – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Confluence
  • Ability to self-manage schedule and communications with project stakeholders
  • Working knowledge in ITIL processes: Incident, Change, and Problem Management methodologies
  • Ability and resilience to work in a time sensitive environment and still produce high quality results.

Other Requirements:
  • The nature of Forensics means that this position will require flexibility on working hours and occasional weekend work, as project deadlines require. (TOIL available).
  • The job may require occasional travel (Less than 5%).

Job Requirements:
  • Evidence of successful team lead experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience

Other Experience:
  • Any previous Fintech, banking, or large legal firm experience.

Desirable certifications
  • Relevant Microsoft Infrastructure certifications (Server, SQL, Azure Solution Architect, etc).
  • Relativity Infrastructure Specialist. (Administrator and User optional).
  • Brainspace Certified Administrator (Analyst and Specialist optional).
