Job Description

Job Title: LGV Driver/Operative - Waste & Recycling Collections

Reporting To: Supervisor/Teamleader

Conditions of Employment:As per the agreed and signed Main Terms and Conditions of Employment.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Your main duty is to drive and load various LGV vehicles on the waste and recycling collection services at a major contract in the largest environmental services company in the UK. This is a large team delivering excellent customer service to the residents of the area and so you may be required to drive vehicles and complete other tasks across several of the departments.
  • Safety is at the heart of everything we do so you will operate vehicles and work at all times in line with all training, procedures and legal requirements to protect the safety of yourself, your team and the public. Proactively reporting any safety concerns, accidents or incidents promptly is vital to maintain a good working environment.
  • At shift start, thoroughly check your vehicle for condition and roadworthiness and complete the appropriate forms, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Drive and operate any vehicle supplied by the company, having first received the relevant training. You are to hold a valid driving licence for the category of vehicle you are driving and have a valid driver card (DCPC) - regular training is provided by the company
  • Our work allocation system helps you to report quickly back to the office and electronic devices are provided in the cab for you to accurately record all work completed in an efficient and effective manner that will ensure maximum productivity.
  • Help keep the environment at a high standard - all containers to be returned to the correct area and any waste spillages during the day to be cleared immediately
  • Report any damaged/missing containers or containers that are not presented for collection via the electronic onboard system
  • Drivers are responsible for ensuring at the end of their shift the vehicle is tipped, washed and the cab is left hygienic, clear of litter, uniform and personal effects
  • You are the face of the company to the public and so must ensure that you are correctly dressed in uniform/PPE and maintain a polite and professional relationship with members of the public, client staff and your colleagues
  • You could be required to work overtime occasional weekends as required to complete your work. On occasions you may be requested to carry out other duties not included in this job description
This position will require the candidate to be available to workMonday to Friday from 6:30 am to 2.30 pm.
