Overview:

We are looking for a Costume Cut and Construction Tutor to join our vibrant BA Costume for Performance and Film team. This is initially for a limited number of project-based hours but is envisioned to be a post that may well develop further over time. Applicants should both be experienced theatre/film practitioners and have teaching experience.

We have a culture of teaching both flat pattern cutting and cutting on the stand, both skills would be required along with an in-depth knowledge and ability to support students in applying History of Costume knowledge accurately to practical processes. As a Make and Design course it is also important for applicants to be creative problem solvers who are able to think outside of the box and encourage sensitive interpretation of design work, (this includes more instinctive and innovative use of fabrics). We would welcome applicants with a keen awareness of green book protocol and commitment to decolonisation, able to develop and reinforce project brief content accordingly and appropriately.

  • Cutting on a stand
  • History of costume knowledge
  • Creative Problem solvers
  • Degree or appropriate industry experience
