PM Shift Hours

Scope and Purpose

To ensure the day to day effective, efficient and safe operation of all prep area’s Racking, Pressing & Curing.

To ensure production requirements are met, by producing the correct volumes of product to customer specification

Maximise line throughputs and efficiencies by ensuring product flow and coordinating of labour, raw materials and services

Coordinate and control staffing levels within the area of responsibility

Follow and enforce high standards of Health and Safety, complying with legislation and Pilgrim’s policies

Key Accountability - Main tasks
  • Manage and motivate staff to ensure the department runs to optimum efficiency with minimum waste
  • Ensure gas, weight and metal checks are taken and any problems highlighted to team members with corrective action taken, in line with CCP / legal requirements
  • Oversee the daily plan of production requirement making adjustments as appropriate, in conjunction with the Shift Manager / Planning Department
  • Communicate and coordinate with service departments; i.e. planning, engineering, technical, QA, HR and hygiene, etc.
  • Manage holidays and absence for the department in line with site policies
  • Communicate with fellow Area Co-Ordinators and other team members, information relevant to their role and the smooth running of the department
  • Building and leading an effective team by motivating and supporting individuals ensuring good employee relations and operating within the framework of company HR policies.
  • Maintain a strict regime of housekeeping and hygiene to company GMP standards.
  • Ensure staff comply with Health & Safety policy and regulations, to be involved in risk assessments / inspections
  • Continuously improve all areas of the department using the Lean Management Tools and suggest ideas for improvement
  • Undertake any other tasks as required from time to time to meet the needs of the business
  • To assist in the preparation and execution of visits
  • Know all relevant and applicable Critical Control Point’s (CCP) in site operations
  • You may be required to carry out Critical Control Point (CCP) checks as part of your work. Training will be regularly carried out to ensure that staff are trained in the most recent issue of the Critical Control Point (CCP) documentation

  • To liaise with the Training Coordinator to ensure training is carried out, records are kept up to date and relevant refresher courses are carried out.
  • You have a shared responsibility for the implementation of the site HACCP plan.
  • A shared responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of Pilgrim’s policies including codes of practice, any customer policies and any relevant legislative requirements
  • Discipline staff as necessary through the appropriate disciplinary policies
  • Present daily, local area KPIs at the shift review with Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions if required
  • Carry out daily communication briefings with teams
  • Ensure any line failings are followed up and corrective actions implemented (e.g engineering downtime, raw material issues)
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing, FMCG or food related industry
  • Previous experience of managing people
  • Used to working under pressure
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff to improve performance and develop potential
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
