Are you an experienced teacher familiar with the higher education sector and interested in working with our diverse student cohort on the International Foundation Programme (IFP)?

We are looking for Foundation Subject Tutors to join our teaching team to deliver high-quality, engaging teaching and student experience at our Medway campus in the following areas:

  • Business
  • Economics
  • Maths & Stats

You will collaborate with the wider team and support our IFP students to successfully complete the IFP and progress to undergraduate study. Teaching hours and schedules are defined according to module and teaching requirements and timetabling. Generally this will be four hours of contact time per week (two-hour lecture, one-hour seminar, one-hour workshop). As Foundation Subject Tutor you will:

  • teach the specific module on the International Foundation Programme to foster student achievement using a variety of techniques and styles/approaches
  • convene the relevant module following the course specification and syllabus, and undertake related administrative duties
  • develop and update materials and VLE pages for assigned modules
  • mark and moderate coursework and examinations in accordance with departmental and institutional grading criteria and timelines, providing effective and constructive feedback to students

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • a postgraduate degree associated with the subject area or extensive equivalent experience in teaching the subject in a similar context
  • a certificate or diploma in teaching or equivalent experience
  • in-service training/practice of teaching in a relevant, similar context, or extensive equivalent experience
  • recent experience and knowledge of dynamic and student-centred teaching associated with preparing students for university study
  • a strong awareness of equal opportunities and intercultural and interpersonal differences
