The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Ilkeston, Derbyshire as a Food Safety & Quality Manager.

Job Purpose

  • This role is responsible for ensuring food safety and quality across all products produced by the Ilkeston operation. This involves overall responsibility for the hygiene standards and the implementation of the cleaning schedule.

What you will contribute

  • Responsible for food safety, quality, hygiene and legislation compliance.
  • Delivering highest food industry accreditation for Food Safety and Quality
  • Building effective strategic relationships with all customers to reinforce Brand and Own Label recognition and trust.
  • Work to coordinate and support to deliver NPD / EPD projects with exemplary product launch execution performance.
  • Manage KPI’s to monitor and deliver continuous improvement plans to the Business Technical Performance: : non-conformances, complaints, quality issues etc.
  • Proactive technical leadership to support internal functions and processes including: Operations, NPD, Commercial, Engineering
  • Create high performance team culture within team to deliver on business priorities.

What you will bring

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Food Manufacturing Processes
  • Strong leadership skills, including communication, engagement and motivation to drive continuous improvement in Food Safety supporting, brand, own label, compliance.
  • Excellent Understanding of required food safety legislation to deliver correct specifications
  • Worked with a variety of customers including Retail, Food Service and an appreciation of multi-channel supply processes.
  • Degree in Food Science, Technology or closely related discipline / qualification associated with the bakery industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills, managing a fast-paced specifications team.
  • Bring vision and scope to take the business and technical services function to the next level challenging excellence
  • Ability to lead Customer / Third Party audits, manage close out actions delivering sustainable change
  • The ability to maintain, drive and validate HACCP systems

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm, this equates to 37.5 hours per week.
