We are a large South West based logistics company on the hunt for an experienced and proactive Fleet Operations Director. This role is suited to someone with great experience within fleet and workshop management who is looking for their next step within a rapidly expanding business.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting into the Managing Director and working alongside other board directors, you will be responsible for managing, overseeing and coordinating the fleet operation and workshop management.
  • Ensure that the fleet operation is running cost effectively, identifying and implementing process improvements, efficiencies, and opportunities for optimisation
  • Compliance with Operator Licence legal obligations
  • Leading change, transformation, and service improvement
  • Procurement of fleet, equipment, and parts (fuel and tyre savings)
  • Management of workshop premises, staff, and budgets
  • Oversee all spending and introduce savings and systems to improve profitability
  • Individual workshop P&L managements
  • Improve Fleet maintenance, R&M Contracts, all outside repairs
  • Introduce managed cost centre within our TMS
  • Telematic Systems and procedures, IT, and reporting
  • Weekly KPI reporting
  • Weekly / Monthly P&L
  • New workshop sales
  • Strategic planning to enable short and long-term controlled growth
  • Improve overall vehicle management
  • Oversee vehicle and site environmental impacts introducing carbon reducing initiatives
  • Improve driver communication regarding vehicle performance and weekly scoring
  • Utilise all aspects of Tranman to enable invoicing directly from the system
  • Centralising workshop invoicing

Experience required:

  • An extensive career history within fleet and workshop management would be an advantage
  • Strong mechanical/engineering background
  • To have worked within organisations with an excess of 100+ vehicles previously
  • Experience within a fast expanding business and change management
  • Must have a strong personality - authoritative & influential
  • Experience of supervision or management of a vehicle workshop facility
  • Detailed understanding of fleet operations with an ability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Evidence of effective and efficient management of resources and budgets, combined with involvement in longer term financial planning

  • In return, you will receive a very competitive salary (£45-60K Dependant on Experience) with all benefits associated with such a position.
