YMCA has an exciting opportunity for a Fitness Training Academy Tutor to join our team based at our centre in Leeds.

Our Fitness Training Academy (FTA) study programme supports a wide range of learners into the industry, providing routes to apprenticeship study, higher education or employment. This is a perfect opportunity for a fitness professional to design and deliver inspirational programmes that engage and motivate young people to progress and achieve.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Tutor who can enthuse students in their learning and ensure they are equipped with the skills they need to succeed. Design, plan and deliver inspirational sessions that engage and motivate young people to progress and achieve.

As the Fitness Training Academy Tutor, your role will have the following responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver diverse and innovative teaching, learning and assessment opportunities to achieve the highest academic standards and learning opportunities for learners who are enrolled on the Fitness Training Academy
  • Embedding themes including employability, social skills, safeguarding, equality and diversity into programmes
  • Provide pastoral and tutorial support within the framework of support designed by the organisation to support individual learner support, progress and achievement.
  • Work with others in the industry to facilitate opportunities for learners

About You

  • You’ll be experienced at managing group dynamics, with excellent communication skills and great rapport building ability.
  • You’ll be highly organised, with demonstrated planning and time-management skills.
  • You’ll be flexible, enthusiastic, and motivated to work with our wide range of learners to deliver a high quality outcome.
  • You will utilise a variety of teaching techniques across a range of qualification types and levels
  • You will have wide knowledge of the fitness industry and be able to articulate this in your teaching to ensure the best experience for learners
  • You will be a qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in a personal trainer related subject
  • Hold a level 3 or above teaching qualification and assessor qualification
