Purpose of the role:

The Fire Safety Advisor will ensure that BYLOR construction platforms across the Hinkley Point C (HPC) construction site have adequate fire safety, risk assessment and preventative plans, to deliver fire safety and reduce the potential of fire occurring.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that fire risk assessments, fire safety/preventative plans are developed and effectively delivered on the HPC construction site.

Responsible for:

• Supervising a dedicated team of personnel whose purpose is to maintain and improve fire safety & preventative arrangements.
• Undertaking audits, inspections and surveillance to ensure compliance with the Principal Contractor’s fire safety & preventative measures.
• Undertaking risk assessment processes to identify potential threats and hazards that could cause fire and to recommend mitigation measures
• Liaising with platform management teams to ensure that fire risk is eliminated or reduced.
• Liaising with the Principal Contractor’s Fire Safety Team.
• Examining, inspecting, maintaining & testing equipment used for fire safety or fighting purposes at platform level in compliance with legal, regulatory and manufacturers’ requirements to always ensure a high state of readiness

Qualification & Experience:

• Essential - Knowledge relating to fire safety matters.
• Essential - Practical experience of undertaking fire safety audits and inspections.
• Essential – Candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience working within a fire sector related role.
• Desirable – NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (or similar qualification).
• Desirable – CIOB Level 6 Certificate in Fire Safety for Construction.

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
