Severfield plc is the leading United Kingdom-based specialist structural steelwork company. As part of Severfield plc, Severfield Infrastructure Limited (formerly DAM Structures Limited) is a steel fabrication company offering a design and building service to the construction industry. The manufacturing capabilities as specialist steel fabricators range from structural steel buildings, incorporated plated beams, traditional fabrication and tubular work within the UK market.

We are currently looking for a Financial Controller to join our team based in Carnaby, Bridlington.

Reporting to the Divisional Finance Director, the role would ideally suit a qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) accountant with strong technical and analytical skills (including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel) and experience of working in industry (previous experience of working within a group environment and construction and / or manufacturing experience is desired but not essential). The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate that they are a progressive thinker who can drive improvements in the Company’s reporting processes and internal control procedures. This role will appeal to an accountant who likes a ‘hands on’ position as it will involve significant communication and analysis of all business areas and processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • In conjunction with the Divisional Finance Director, the Financial Controller is responsible for the preparation of the Company’s reporting including:
  • Monthly management accounts and variance analysis for submission to both the Company’s board of directors and the Group finance team for incorporation in the Group’s consolidated accounts.
  • Monthly cash forecasting and reporting.
  • Quarterly profit forecasting.
  • Annual budget including setting of departmental budgets with assistance for departmental heads and monitoring of those costs.
  • Annual published IFRS statutory financial statements.
  • Deputise for the Finance Director when required.
  • Continuous improvement of the financial processes and procedures required to support the development of the business including improving internal control process and procedures.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as required by the Company’s board and Group finance team.
  • Liaising with finance teams from other Group companies.
  • Liaising with auditors, bankers and external advisors.
