Our client, a growing service sector business has a newly created job opportunity for a qualified accountant to join them as Financial Controller. This role is for a commercially focused financial controller involved in the day-to-day financial operations of the business and subsidiaries

Your new role

The Financial Controller role will be pivotal as part of the management team and will be instrumental in ensuring the company achieves its growth potential

The overall objective of the position is to support the full business unit by running, organising and maintaining day to day financial procedures as well as future proofing the business’s financial obligations by taking a strategic approach to the business’s financial status.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing management information analysis and commentary to support decision making
  • Interact with commercial team, follow changes in market conditions and assess financial impact of changes/commercial decisions to the company.
  • Reporting weekly commodity results (to Gross Profit level) for selected commodities. Contracts measured against market value and standard costs, cost variances and market movements, review daily liaising with trading managers and execution departments to understand variances and significant items arising.
  • Preparation and reporting of bi-monthly margin inputs to group
  • Taking ownership for key accounting information ensuring value add analysis delivered
  • Drive continuous process improvement both in finance function and the departments for which the financial reporting relates to.
  • Preparation of short term and long term cash forecasts on a regular basis.
  • Conducting in-depth financial analyses, both ad-hoc and recurring -building models, creating reports and leveraging other tools for analysis
  • Driving the annual budget process and longer-term business planning
  • Preparing various financial reports and projections data monthly/quarterly as required
What You’ll Need To Succeed

You will be a fully qualified accountant with significant experience of working in a similar Financial Controller position and will possess demonstrable experience of providing commercially focused management information in a complex environment fast paced environment with a high degree of change.

You will possess superior commercial acumen and strong analytical skills combined with a positive results driven approach and the ability to think strategically and influence senior stakeholders

You will be passionate about making your own impact and will possess the ability to work autonomously
