Gleeson Recruitment Group are working with a successful, growing SME construction business based in Wolverhampton to assist them in appointing a Financial Controller to their team. The business has a requirement for someone to take a technical stance within the finance team, working alongside the more commercially focused FD.

This is a very exciting time to be joining the business as they have seen 100% growth within the last 5 years, and continue to grow in 2022. They have a strong order pipeline, an extremely solid financial background and a strong track record in cash generation.

The current FD is looking for someone who he can mentor and train, to deliver financial results in a timely and efficient way. The position will have 2 direct reports, with a total team of 5. The direct reporting team is made up of a Management Accountant and an Accounts Supervisor, with the wider team being made up of transactional finance too.

The business is looking for someone who is highly ambitious, personable, and able to make strong connections with the wider business. They have a fast-track route to progression within the team and hope that this role will move to an FD position in the mid-term.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of the balance sheet and implement and maintain a robust financial control environment
  • Responsible for transactional finance
  • Implementing best practice and efficient processes within the team
  • Owning the audit process and be responsible for statutory reporting, budgeting & forecasting, monthly management accounts production and financial analysis
  • Partner the FD and MD in the development and delivery of strategies to grow the business, working closely with key operational stakeholders
