Hutcheon Mearns are supporting a successful and growing organisation to source a Financial Controller to manage their small team. The role will be high profile in the organisation and see the successful candidate interacting with the CEO, investor and wider commercial group. With a successful track record and positive strategy going forward, this company offers the ideal opportunity for a Qualified finance professional with experience in the SME space.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly Financial close cycle
  • Develop and continuously improve month end close cycle ensuring efficient process
  • Deliver timely, accurate consolidated financial statements to Management and the Board
  • Oversight of GA allocations
  • Control of Balance Sheet reconciliation process ensuring clear accountability of all ledger balances are fully reconciled and reviewed.
  • Manage and maintain all financial policies and procedures.
Annual Audit
  • Responsible for all matters in relation to Annual Audit in developing plan, agreeing timetable, and coordinating all audit schedules through to signing accounts meeting all audit deliverables in a timely manner
  • Prepare all technical papers for CFO review
Budgets and Forecasts
  • Produce the Corporate Budget for review by management including full PL, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow
  • Lead full year corporate forecast update setting and preparing at least quarterly.
Treasury
  • Actively manage cash and working capital
  • Issue short term cash flow update on a weekly basis
Regulatory /Tax
  • Ensure tax compliance including VAT, monthly payroll, and annual corporation tax
  • All Companies House filings delivered on time
  • Liaise with registrars to ensure local jurisdiction compliance
Board Support
  • Loan documentation preparation
  • CFO delegate on all matters including Board attendance when necessary
Other
  • Loan covenant compliance reporting
  • Finance systems oversight and key contact with Finance System Provider
  • Payroll Admin and Liaison with External Advisor
  • Assist CFO in Insurance matters
  • Lead periodic Multi Venture Audit (MVAC)
  • Regular contact with Management team fostering credibility and trust of Finance group
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects
Team Management
  • Management of Assistant Accountant’s activities and performance.
The successful candidate will be a qualified finance professional with both practice and industry experience. You will be a confident communicator who can interact with people at all levels and functions across the business. You will drive the finance team towards being a true, value adding business partner.
