Financial Controller Job Purpose

Responsible for the efforts and results of the financial department. Reporting to the Group General Manager in regards to all financial and accounting activities.

This position involves a broad spectrum of operational responsibilities and requires a wide range of knowledge and experience.

The Financial Controller is tasked with overseeing the extensive variety of duties undertaken by the finance department, including setting targets and supporting individual departments to create and maintain their budgets.

The role of Financial Controller is to maintain all financial systems, identifying areas that require improvement and implementing necessary changes to support business development.

Financial Controller Job Duties
  • Oversee all company accounts and investments
  • Preparation of monthly payroll and pension reports
  • Preparation and reporting of management accounts
  • Responsibility for the preparation of month end accounts and VAT returns
  • Ensure the completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Oversee the preparation of year end statutory accounts and liaising with external personnel
  • Budgeting & forecasting
  • Contributing to company financial strategy and decision-making process
  • Undertaking financial analysis and reporting
  • Ensuring robust financial systems and processes are in place
  • Overseeing tax and compliance
  • Developing forecasting models (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts
  • Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Support part-time Credit Control Assistant, clarifying role and providing helpful feedback
  • Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with external bodies to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Develop budgets , forecasts and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Report to the leadership team with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assist the leadership team in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
  • Book keeping responsibilities across all business entities.
Financial Controller Skills And Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field; several years of experience in a business or finance environment; management experience; leadership skills; interpersonal skills; outstanding mathematical skills; honesty; integrity; reliability; solid written and verbal communication skills; high attention to detail; organisational skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; research skills; analytical skills; computer skills; understanding of data privacy standards.
