About Our Client
Summer Fields is one of the premier boys’ prep and pre-prep schools in the country, situated in 70 acres of superb grounds in North Oxford. The school has an excellent academic reputation and is extremely well resourced.
Job Description
As the Financial Controller, you will be a senior member of the support staff working for the school Bursar and have a close relationship with Governors and the Headmaster. You will have wide-ranging financial and organisational responsibilities within this role. You will have a naturally proactive approach to work, as well as able and willing to go the extra mile to produce work of the highest standard.
The Successful Applicant
The Financial Controller must hold relevant formal financial qualifications and is likely to have Chartered status. The position is assisted by the Finance Officer (full time). It is essential that you are a confident, tactful and diplomatic communicator, both across the school and with parents alike, remaining aligned with the educational objectives of the school at all times. An understanding of charitable accounts and working knowledge of the latest charities SORP and how they relate to independent schools would be highly advantageous. You will have a positive and optimistic approach to life and work, coupled with an affable nature. You will also be able to build good working relationships with the stakeholders of the school.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the school is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children."
