Introduction to cinch

cinch operates a direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform designed to meet the needs of car-buying consumers in an increasingly digital market.

The platform provides consumers an online experience in which they can find and buy the car that suits their needs, and have it delivered to their door.

cinch operates in a fast moving environment. The team works with a flexible, start-up mentality and thrives on innovation and creativity.

We have teams based in London King’s Cross, Manchester, Blackbushe and Farnham. The Blackbushe and Farnham teams will be moving to a newly refurbished office in Hook, Hampshire, in the near future.

Many of our people currently work on a flexible / hybrid basis which allows for adaptability and agility while maintaining strong collaboration and communication which are critical to our success.

Core responsibilities

The role is one of the two finance managers who both report to the Financial Controller, and play a key part in shaping and developing cinch’s Financial reporting capabilities, processes & procedures and control.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of a best-in-class finance function to support a rapidly growing business. Finance Manager will be responsible for a number of areas including:

  • Managing and reviewing end-to-end reconciliations to ensure that transactions taking place on the website and other systems are properly reflected in the ERP system
  • Period end reporting including management accounts and other deliverables for the cinch Management Team and other stakeholders
  • Monitoring controls and reconciliations to ensure that underlying processes and financial reporting are well managed and tightly controlled
  • Ownership of VAT returns and other reporting
  • Overseeing / performing testing of Business Central, our ERP system, following development work (e.g. implementation of new workflows, development of new import files and bank export files, transactions relating to new products)
  • Working with colleagues across the business to understand new products & services which are proposed, ensure that finance requirements are scoped into the development plan, and that the correct transactions are captured
  • Working closely with Customer Experience and Product teams to ensure that operational and administrative activities which touch on finance are adequately controlled
  • Reporting to banks in respect of cinch’s vehicle inventory, which is funded by an Asset Backed Lending facility
  • Managing bulk vehicle purchases, which requires a strong working relationship with the cinch operations team and our colleagues in Constellation group companies
  • Participation in ad-hoc projects

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant with appropriate qualifications (ACA/ACCA), obtained while working with a recognised employer in professional practice or industry
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Track record of managing and developing a finance team
  • Passion for finding solutions to enhance performance Background in financial control & financial reporting
  • Well-organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong, current technical skills
  • Experience of improving financial and operational processes
  • Articulate, persuasive, confident, possessing sound intellect; a self-starter with the ability to combine professional rigour with practical business requirements

Location:Hook, Hampshire

The primary office location will be in Hook, Hampshire, with a degree of hybrid working from home. There will be occasional meetings in the London King’s Cross office and also some travel to other cinch and Constellation Group locations.
