Waiting for that window of opportunity to take the next step in your career?

You’re an ambitious accountant, ready to step into your first No.1 role.

Maybe you’ve trained in a larger corporation, and you now want to be a key player in a privately-owned family business, to really drive growth and development.

Or progressed in an SME business but you’re ready to apply your management and accounting skills.

If that sounds like you, then this role as Finance Manager is what you’ve been looking for.

Don’t be fooled by the title, you’ll be the most senior person in finance here, and you’re ready for that.

You’ll be part of the senior management team from day one, with the support and mentorship from an experienced external CFO.

They will be there to help you develop your strategic thinking and to organise your time to ensure you are delivering on added value projects.

But you’ll also attend quarterly Senior Management Team strategic away days and have access to monthly half-day training sessions with their external strategic advisor and coach, to continually build on your skills.

There is currently an agile working policy in place so you’ll be able to work some days from home and some in the office each week, as well as some flexibility on when you start and finish.

About The Company

Founded in 1983, Polar North East design, manufacture and maintain specialist windows.

With a large percentage of their business being providing specialist windows to the NHS, they have become a key supplier, and some of their patented designs are now a standard requirement for the construction of specific wards.

Following a 60% growth in turnover and a 300% growth in profit, they are now planning expansion into European markets.

Polar is a family-run business, that is now in its second generation of leadership, bringing new and innovative ideas, focused on creating and living a fantastic work culture.

So much so, they are seeking to bring in a Head of People to continue their culture development and further enhance their working environment and benefits that will attract the best talent and retain their long-serving staff.

With their bold and forward-thinking approach, this is an exciting time to join them on their journey.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for mentoring and developing the finance team, consisting of the current Finance Supervisor and a new Credit Controller. And you’ll invest in recruiting a team to improve efficiencies to deliver business objectives.

Your work will influence decision-making. You’ll prepare timely monthly management accounts, help produce and maintain accurate budgets and forecasts, and undertake financial analysis on a project basis, presenting your results at monthly management and quarterly Board meetings.

You will drive forward the selection and implementation of a new integrated business management system.

You will also manage working capital and external relationships with auditors and banks.

About You

You’ll be a qualified or part-qualified accountant, who is ready to lead a finance function.

You will be open-minded, always ready to learn new things, and determined to develop yourself and your skills.

And you’ll be confident to drive and implement improvements to achieve the business goals.
