    Job Description

    The Director of Finance position will form part of the current Senior Management Team this role is central to the organisations future success. The DoF will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will support the charities aims and objectives, as well as ensure its long-term sustainability. The role includes responsibility for a range of support functions and is assisted by a team of five some of which are located overseas

    The Role Will

    The new DoF will be a key member of the senior management team and will keep the SMT fully briefed so that it can make timely and informed decisions about programme management, future direction, cash flow/funding requirements and the management of reserves.
    • Overall responsibility for the finance department including all of the UK-based accounting, regulatory, banking and auditing requirements
    • Cashflow management and reserves forecasts as well as organisational and project budgets
    • Long term financial planning
    • Production of monthly management information and reports for the CEO and Finance and Audit Committee (trustees)
    • Oversee production of expenditure reports for projects and donors (grants and contracts), and liaison with the fundraising team
    • Responsible for year end and relationship with the external auditors
    • Ensure financial and IT systems and processes are robust and efficient
    • Management of financial risks including currency movements, potential fraud and cybercrime
    • Service the Finance and Audit Committee
    • Manage, coach and develop a remote finance team
    • Oversee, Facilities management, IT services, Procurement, HR administration.


    The Successful Applicant

    The successful applicant will be -
    • A fully qualified accountant
    • Ideally have an NGO or charity
    • A hands on individual, who is also able to demonstrate significant financial leadership and decision-making in a senior role
    • Strong IT skills including development of systems and processes
    • Experienced in team leadership - able to inspire and motivate staff with strong interpersonal skills and interest in developing staff to achieve their full potential
    • Adept at concise report-writing, presentations and policy/procedure documentation
    • Passion for the organisations purpose, values and vision


    What’s On Offer

    £50,000 to £55,000 plus benefits.

    Location is flexible, either based in Shrewsbury or home based with regular visits on a monthly basis to Shrewsbury.
