Finance Assistant

9 - 12 Month FTC, Mat Cover

£25,000 - £33,000 (pro rata) + benefits

We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join us on a Maternity cover. This is a perfect opportunity for someone with a number of years of experience looking to take on additional finance responsibilities and get some valuable experience for your next step upwards.

THE ROLE

Sitting within a team of five based in the UK you will be part of a vibrant and busy team with responsibilities central to everything that we do as a business. As a sales company, understanding cash flow, tight credit control, and up-to-date ledgers are key to the C-suite, which this role will have some face time into.

Focusing on our permanent sales and covering our global businesses, you can expect to have the following as your key responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cash flow reporting – Updating cash flow report with actuals and forecasting cash flow to year end
  • Reporting on the company cash balances to Senior Management and monitoring bank balances
  • Balance sheet reconciliations for debtors, creditors, bank, credit cards
  • Accrued and deferred revenue management – ensuring revenue is recognised correctly on a monthly basis
  • Credit control – Monitoring the accounts receivable balances and following up on outstanding debt
  • Purchase ledger - Manage all incoming invoices and ensure they have correct approval and coding, then inputting invoices into Quickbooks
  • Sales ledger – Confirming employment start dates with clients; creating and processing client invoices
  • Expenses management – Checking, processing and inputting into Quickbooks and setting up bank payments
  • Credit card reconciliations – Matching invoices and receipts to credit card statements and confirming in Quickbooks
  • Supporting the finance team with ad hoc duties as required

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate will likely have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous work as a Finance Assistant or similar role
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Proven credit control experience is key
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
  • Organisational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

REMOTE WORKING:

Please note that whilst you may find yourself majority office-based during the training period, you will then find yourself split between in the office and working at home in a 3:2 split.
