Manorcroft Nursery Staff Vacancy
Manorcroft Nursery is a preschool for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years, rated as
’Good‘ by Ofsted in all areas of Development. We are based in Egham, Surrey, in the grounds of Manorcroft School.
Manorcroft Nursery was opened in September 1980 and has become an established part of the community. The nursery is unique in Egham, in that it is owned by the parents of the children currently attending it. When those children move onto the ’Big School’ the next set of parents will own the nursery. This is a philosophy that we believe helps parents and children feel more a part of the preschool.
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our nursery team as a:
Finance Assistant
(22 hours per week over 3/4 days / 36 weeks per year)
Whilst we do require our staff to be flexible, where possible with regards to their working hours, we would agree hours for the 2023/2024 academic year on appointment.
The Role:
The role supports the Nursery Manager and the Trustees with the main finance function of the Nursery, including management of supplier accounts (including utilities), processing supplier invoices and accounting for all grants, parent fees and fundraising income to the Nursery.
The role will have responsibility for direct access to the bank account and will involve weekly reconciliation to the bank plus liaison with the Nursery team and trustees for payroll management.
As well as supporting finance activities the role will also provide general admin support to the Nursery team making best use of available technology to improve the efficient running of the nursery.
To succeed in this role we are looking for someone with:
- Knowledge and experience of accounting software e.g. Quickbooks gained from previously working in a finance or accounting role.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to communicate in a professional manner to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail and clear ownership of own work.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently but also play an active role as a member of the team.
- Willingness to challenge the status quo and make suggestions for process improvement.
In addition to the above, familiarity with an Early Years’ setting would be desirable along with recent experience in an admin role with using technology to improve processes or systems.
Salary: £11-£14 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience. Benefits include 5.6 weeks paid holiday, stakeholder pension and some flexibility in working hours.
We pride ourselves on aiming to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere and believe this is a great opportunity for a positive individual to add value to our existing team.
