Job summary:

We currently have an exciting new role as an Fibre Operations Manager based across the Home Counties/Midlands.

The Fibre Operations Manager will head up a hybrid team of in house and sub-contractors to deliver a programme of works across the Home Counties/Midlands regions, mainly within the Gigaclear Work Stream.

Principal duties include working with the operations/planning and commercial teams to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective approach is used to deliver an outstanding level of service whilst maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality.

With assistance from the operations/planning and commercial teams you will also demonstrate and develop financial controls that detail profit and loss and detailed cost to complete reports for each scheme.

The role will always include both upward and downward reporting within Comex 2000 and the client providing clear and precise direction at all levels.

Your main activities will include:

· Responsible for the installation of telecoms FTTH infrastructure; including cabling, splicing and testing.

· Overseeing all activities and staff to ensure that design, procurement, financial control and site activities are managed to the highest standards in all areas of delivery.

· Ownership of the fibre and PIA elements of the projects, design, costs, programme, documentation, site activities, procurement etc.

· This includes working closely with our project teams, to ensure that technical requirements are understood and met.

· Management of testing, accuracy of test results.

· Interpret contract commitments.

· Produce BOQ for new build designs in collaboration with the planning and commercial teams.

· Manage client/contractor expectations within the context of Gigaclear and their commitment to continuing our longstanding relationship with this client.

· Ensuring that the key deliverables within each stage of the projects are being administered to the highest quality.

· Ensuring proper interpretation of the drawings and plans are established and the delivered solutions meet and exceed the expectations of the client.

· Working with the client to enable the most efficient and cost-effective approach in delivering outstanding programs of work, while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety & quality.

· Demonstrate and develop financial controls that detail profit and loss and cost to complete reports for each project within the programme.

· Development of strong team working relationships.

· Ensuring all project KPI’s and KPM’s are achieved.

· Produce safe and efficient RAMS.

· Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.

· Bring innovative ideas.

Skills & Qualifications required:

· An industry applicable qualification to degree level is very desirable.

· Telecoms Industry knowledge is essential, particularly FTTx build.

· Experience with Fibre deployment using the BT PIA duct network with a view to Recruit, train and manage PIA admin staff as business demands grow.

· OTDR Experience – EXFO, CMA NETTEST, ANRITSU, NOYES or similar.

· Working knowledge of Straight Line Diagrams and Fibre Allocation Sheets.

· Experienced with the use of Fusion splicing – Fujikura 60s, 70s or similar.

· Working experience of GPON or XGSPON networks.

· Ability to create H&S documentation, progress reports and tracking documentation.

· Experienced in engaging suppliers with an eye on new technology within the industry.

· Strong Understanding of Fibre networks to facilitate in Fibre fault finding and repair.

· Regular communication with PM and contractor.

· GIS knowledge is desirable.

· Commercial and contractual awareness.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.

· Ability to work with minimum supervision with a proactive and self-motivated mindset.

· Able to organise yourself and others workload.

· Able to work in a strong team environment.

· An excellent communicator.

· A high level of diplomacy and customer focused.

· Excellent time-management skills
