Job description

We are currently looking for a Facilities Manager with Health and Safety experience to join our client within the Langley Locality.

The role is from Monday to Friday and 37 hours a week. The ability to travel to Egham and Windsor sites to attend relevant meetings and visit sites is essential.

This is a 3 months Temp booking and the hourly rate is £16.

Duties:

  • Develop and monitor the Health & Safety Policy annually, in order that this reflects good practice and continuous improvement across the College.
  • Develop and monitor procedures, standards and monitoring arrangements for risk assessment so they are carried out consistently and regularly based on best practice and current legislation.
  • Monitor procedures and standards for the reporting of accidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and potential hazards, in order that these are identified and acted upon quickly, investigating where required.
  • To promote the concept of “safe learner” across the College to ensure learners’ safety and well-being.
  • To regularly inspect the workplace, across all 3 campuses to ensure that standards are being achieved, safe systems of work are being adhered to and to make recommendations for any improvements.
  • To assist managers, as appropriate, in the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses and recommend means of preventing a recurrence and report under RIDDOR when appropriate.
  • Play a lead role in the emergency planning process that supports the provision of arrangements and expertise that enable the College to respond effectively to emergencies
  • Assist with the identification of Health and Safety training needs analysis and the delivery of a training programme to raise the standards of awareness and competence across the College.
  • Deliver or source training courses appropriate for staff needs to equip them from H&S responsibilities.
  • Advise the College of developments in Health and Safety legislation and practice, in order that these can be incorporated into policy and practice.
  • Introduce and maintain arrangements that cover contractors, visitors and customers to the Colleges premise (including tendering arrangements) that reduces the Colleges exposure to risk.
  • Develop information systems to enable periodic Health and Safety Performance Reports to be produced, identifying health and safety management progress.
  • To provide advice and guidance on health and safety issues within the framework of responsibilities, including supporting the Risk Assessment Process, Control of Substances Hazards to Health Assessment Process, Manual Handling Assessment Process.
  • To respond to out of normal hours working as required.
  • To undertake any other duties are may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.
