Cumberland Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Facilities Manager to join its Property Services Team. The role will play an essential part in the maintenance of a group of properties with a value of circa £147 million within the Councils wider property portfolio. It is an interesting time to be joining the newly established Cumberland Council and this role plays a key part in ensuring the operation, compliance and ongoing maintenance of the Councils properties.

The range of buildings within the property portfolio include listed buildings, Museums, Monuments, Community Centres, Public Toilets, Cemeteries and Crematorium, Hostels and Residential Accommodation, Leisure Centres and Public Open Spaces all of which provide valuable services to the people who live, work and visit Carlisle.

This role offers you the chance to apply your Facilities and Project Management skills and experience in a way which truly benefits the local community and people of Carlisle and Cumberland. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and efficiency of the services we provide and encompasses responsibility for Health and Safety including statutory compliance, arranging and co-ordinating pre planned maintenance and reactive repairs as well as identifying and specifying project works.

Previous experience in Facilities Management, ideally within Local Government is highly desirable as is a membership of RICS or relevant qualification is desirable although demonstrable experience will also be considered. This role also requires project management experience as you will be responsible for the implementation and management of the departments repairs and maintenance and capital works programmes. The Council is required to deliver all its services to the highest standards, in order to maintain this expectation, you will need to have a high level of attention to detail to ensure all works within the programmes are delivered not only in line with these expectations but on time and on budget as well.

You will be an experienced individual with the ability to manage a diverse property portfolio, you will be able to react to changing circumstances, priorities and demands. The successful candidate will need to be organised, focussed and able to adapt to a varied and changing workload within a diverse environment. You will be working as part of a small team and so building relationships with a wide range of colleagues, departments, contractors and building occupiers is a key requirement.

You will need to be proficient in all areas of IT including AutoCAD and experience of using a CAFM system such as Concerto is beneficial.

A full UK driving licence is essential as regular site visits are required to ensure that works are correctly specified and completed to the required standards.
