Job Introduction

BBC Radio Nottingham is looking for a New Executive Producer. This is a rare opportunity to be part of an award winning and creative team. You will work closely with the Executive Editor and will be an important part of delivering a live radio and digital strategy.

Role Responsibility

Executive Producer will lead, manage and develop a significant part of the output and contribute to the overall strategic management of the general productions. An Executive Producer at this level is likely to manage output which is digital, local content but may also work on some network productions or events.

You will exercise considerable discretion within broad limits of editorial reference and manage diverse production team(s) and project manage programmes through from original ideas to delivery including devising, preparing, and producing programme output.

You will have a strong knowledge of how to create digital content and help develop our already successful digital strategy. You know what makes good digital content and radio. You will manage and build relationships with multiple stakeholders across the BBC. You will be responsible for the curation of the BBC Local Rail on Sounds. As well as the smooth running of station day to day.

You will have a close relationship with programming team and develop content that runs across the whole of the station fostering collaboration and great team work. You will also be an excellent talent coach being able to give feedback on the performance of the on-air talent.

We are looking for somebody with evidence of Strong Leadership and effective team management, who has strong emotional Intelligence, ensuring staff members receive development and can manage a high performing team.

BBC Radio Nottingham has a track record of delivering digital content and as we develop the “digital First Strategy” we are looking for somebody who understand digital content across all platforms. Innovating & evolving strategy for the department, anticipating audience needs & maintaining relevance on all existing and future platforms. A key skill will be building a maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the BBC that makes sure our content goes across multiple platforms.

This is a demanding job, Effective planning and organising skills are essential. The ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities. You will be an excellent communicator.

Able to deliver all Programme/content on time within budget with the highest possible creative standards.

Band: E

Contract: Permanent 35 hours per week

Location: Nottingham

You are eligible to apply for an internal role if you are either on a BBC Continuing (Permanent) contract, a BBC Fixed Term contract, a casual contract or freelance contract and you have worked continuously for 6 months.

Only internal staff are eligible to apply for the role on an attachment basis. You need to be on a continuing (permanent) or fixed-term contract.
