An opportunity has arisen within the Estates & Facilities, for an Estates & Facilities Graduate. The successful individual will have a keen interest in E&F functions with an interest in property management, construction, surveying and a flair design.

Gaining experience working throughout the E&F division:
The position will primarily be located at the corporate office at Buckingham Row, Wigan, a short walk to Royal Albert Edward Infirmary site, but will also be required to support schemes across all Trust premises, at Wrightington, Leigh, and Community Premises throughout the Wigan Borough.

Responsible for assisting the Senior Estates Manager (Capital Projects) and Estates Officers (Capital Projects) with the design, specification and post contract control of Capital schemes undertaken by the Estates and Facilities Division within the entire Trust.

Responsible for Assisting with maintenance management over 3 sites, Back filling operational management, commissioning small maintenance schemes and planning proactive maintenance.

Assistance in sustainability planning and projects, reading energy usage meters and managing data sets forecasting usage.

Calculating areas to assist re-charges to tenants or revenue consequences of new developments, Assisting with space management and resolutions to accommodation issues.

Experience in all elements of Facilities (Catering, Laundry, Domestics, Portering, Switchboard/Alarms, Waste)

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

Capital projects: Responsible for assisting the Senior Estates Manager (Capital Projects) and Estates Officers (Capital Projects) with the design, specification and post contract control of Capital schemes undertaken by the Estates and Facilities Division within the entire Trust.
  • Assist Senior Officers to liaise with user groups to develop scheme/project briefs.
  • Assist in the interpretation of client requirements from project brief to develop sketch plans for consultation with and approval by the users.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget costs estimates for all projects being undertaken.
  • Assist in the production of drawings, specifications and tender documentation for all Capital schemes and projects in accordance with Department procedures and Standing Orders.
  • Prepare and submit applications for Planning and Building Regulations approval as and when required and in a timely manner.
Operational Estates: Responsible for Assisting with maintenance management over 3 sites, Back filling operational management, commissioning small maintenance schemes and planning proactive maintenance.
  • Assist Senior Officers in proactive and reactive maintenance planning.
  • Backfilling operational management positions (Annual Leave / Sickness).
  • Plan and manage small maintenance schemes (as per backlog maintenance schedule).
Sustainability Team: Assistance in sustainability planning and projects, reading energy usage meters and managing data sets forecasting usage.
  • Assist Sustainability Manager in proactive Energy / Carbon Reduction.
  • Plan and manage small Sustainability schemes.
  • Record Data of Energy Usage and formulate data sets to forecast and plan usage and target areas for reduction.
Business Planning: Calculating areas to assist re-charges to tenants or revenue consequences of new developments, Assisting with space management and resolutions to accommodation issues.
  • Assist in Revenue Consequence calculating.
  • Assist in Space Planning Recording (utilising CAD Skills) to provide Areas for accurate recharges to other Divisions.
  • Plan and manage moves of individual and departments to other suitable accommodation to assist in the overall trust strategy.
Facilities: Experience in all elements of Facilities (Catering, Laundry, Domestics, Portering, Switchboard/Alarms, Waste)
  • Assist in Catering Resource planning (Produce / Staff).
  • Audit to Laundry and monitoring of cost efficiency.
  • Assist in cleanliness audits, learning what to look for to improve PLACE Scores.
  • Resource management of portering, ensuring effective delivery of goods / patients to areas required.
  • Catalogue alarms, and systematically run tests of systems to ensure response is adequate and procedures can be managed / updated accordingly.
  • Assist in Waste Audits and Waste Data collection. Education and training to staff.
