ESAB Safeguarding Adult Review Officer

Permanent, Full Time

Up to £35,027 per annum

Location: Chelmsford

About the Role

The Safeguarding Adult Review Officer will be responsible for overseeing Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs) and alternative review processes. The role will project manage all reviews, collate and deliver information for the panels and act as a point of contact for multi-agency partners in SAR and alternative review processes.

The role will operate within a specific legislative framework in relation to the Care Act 2014 (updated 2015) and ensure the effective management of the current demand for SAR referrals assessments, ensuring our customers receive a high quality and responsive service.

  • Responsible for providing advice and support to internal and external agencies and partners on what constitutes a SAR. Undertake and manage the business processes and systems to support the management of the SAR process and ensure systems are aligned to objectives within the ESAB strategic plan.
  • Responsible for Audit Section 42 enquiries to ensure there was sufficient evidence to support a recommendation for a SAR, to reduce inappropriate referrals and use of the ESAB resources.
  • Link with other SAB’s, CQC and relevant organisations to ensure the ESAB is at the forefront of national developments and priorities and can respond accordingly.
  • Responsible for ensuring Safeguarding Adult Reviews are current and timely, effectively disseminating learning and monitoring implementation.
  • Maintain a network of Independent Reviewers to ensure capacity and high quality of Safeguarding Adult Reviews.
  • Responsible for requesting information from ECC and partner agencies to ensure the SAR process is effective and in line with the SAR policy and guidance.
  • Communicate with the person who is the subject of the SAR, family and carers in a sensitive and person centred manner to ensure that the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal are integral to the SAR process.
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

About You

To apply, you’ll need to be a Qualified Social Worker with Diploma/Degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent or Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists or B.Sc. O.T. or Registered nurse recognised by NMC or Police Officer.

You’ll also need:

  • Experience of working across a range of Adult services from public, private voluntary and community sectors, in multi-agency settings with proven ability to manage and navigate complex multiagency relationships at a senior level.
  • In depth knowledge of the Care Act and statutory framework within which the ESAB operates and of current research on effective safeguarding practice in the way it applies to the work of Adult services and partner agencies.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to engage stakeholders from a wide variety of roles and agencies.
  • Ability to assimilate, analyse and present complex data on outcomes for adults and the performance of diverse groups of agencies in relation to safeguarding.
  • Excellent knowledge of adult safeguarding work and experience of safeguarding enquiries.
  • Ability to cope with sensitive/distressing information and sympathetic in dealing with individuals involved in any particular case.
  • You must have a UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
