What We’re Looking For

You will be part of our Compute and Cloud Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the operations of the Compute and Virtualization both on-prem and Cloud. You will also serve as Lead Datacenter engineer for the EMEA region.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Sr Systems engineer for our Global datacenters who will be responsible for implementation and maintenance of compute and Virtualization services. Coordinates, prioritizes, and builds solutions to ensure the stability of the computing environment for current and future growth. Partners with various business units and technology staff members to ensure IT platforms are built and operated to meet customer needs which includes management of design services, sizing and configuration assistance, and performing needs assessments. Ensures that all phases of support, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems, and operating system configuration issues, are accurately configured, monitored, supervised, and resolved.

Responsibilities
  • Implement, maintain, and lead improvement projects on Windows, Linux and Hyper V infrastructure.
  • Automating commonly performed tasks, using scripting tools such as Powershell, Ansible, or Python and utilize script-based automations to provision well architected and rightsized infrastructure.
  • Point of contact for data center and infrastructure related requests and work closely with data center remote hands on fulfillment.
  • Provide support to ensure corporate and data center infrastructure are running at optimum state, meeting growth requirements and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Configure, install, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot network equipment, servers, storage appliances, operating systems along with other services related to networking
  • Work with the Leads/Managers planning upgrades, implementing configuration changes, extending and replacing IT systems.
  • Make recommendations, justify, and implement improvements
  • Support stakeholders and partners
  • Vendor Management and collaborating with multiple teams across geographies
  • Ability to estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms
  • Define, document and follow standards and best practices for systems design, testing, and implementation.
  • Keep critical IT systems available to an agreed schedule, may involve limited weekend or out-of-hours work.
  • Adhere to and promote DC standards, change control and roles/responsibilities.
  • Ability to estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms
  • Define, document and follow standards and best practices for systems design, testing, and implementation.

Qualifications
  • Several years of experience in the Deployment/Configuration/Maintenance of Windows Servers and Hyper V in an enterprise-level environment
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in datacenter
  • Experience in managing server hardware and technologies (rack, blade, ILO, SAN)
  • Experience with upgrading server hardware (memory, NICs, HDs etc.).
  • Knowledge of Ethernet local area networking including VLANs and IP routing.
  • Experience in MS Failover Clustering and High Availability Technology
  • Experience with Active Directory and multi-platform authentication/identification environments.
  • Knowledge or experience with any of the Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Basic infrastructure knowledge in Backup/Storage, Network
  • Familiar with IT Service Management process and tool (Service Now)
  • Excellent verbal, written, skills; in particular, demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, ever evolving, and challenging environment.
  • Self-motivated individual that can handle multiple projects at any given time.
  • Experience supporting a 24x7 Operational environment, and participate in on-call rotation

Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Linux distros (RedHat, Centos etc), and Chef is a plus
  • Familiar with CI/CD, Agile, DevOps methodology
  • Experience with DCIM & monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of Cisco UCS director and its capabilities.
  • Understanding of power, cooling & remote management found in datacenters.
  • Awareness of datacenters security standards.
  • Experience of using Network filers (NetApp, EqualLogic; iSCSI and NFS).
  • Network analysis tools (wireshark, tcpdump, nmap, etc).
