Cloud Engineering Manager (Edinburgh/ hybrid)


A rare and exciting opportunity has become available in one of the top voted companies to work for consistently over recent years. This is a leadership role for a technical person who is passionate about getting things done right.
This company is Edinburgh based and has been growing since opening over a decade ago. They are one of the most philanthropic ventures whilst having a significant exposure to the latest progressive technical tooling.
This role will be a high-profile role in the company leading a Cloud Engineering/ DevOps team whilst still keeping an active technical eye alongside galvanising the team to enable the strategic direction or travel. The team are trusted with designing, building, and releasing the next generation of Cloud Infrastructure within the DevOps culture whilst baking in security and compliance along the way.

This role will call for some with a passion for technology, best practice, continuous improvement, and strong collaboration skills.
Experience that would help in this position.

  • Previous work within a DevOps culture, managing a team
  • Strong collaboration across other technical peers to help shape and evolve the engineering culture.
  • Exposure to using a risk-based approach in design, test and release management
  • Experience of defining platform as a service in order to make reusable templates for cloud services
  • Motivational quality to your approach with colleagues
  • Ability to build trust to influence technical direction
  • Feel comfortable with IaC and use of Terraform or something similar

Good topics of conversation might be around exposure to Microservice, Serverless architectures, AWS (CDK, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis) Feather Flagging, Jenkins, Typescript, Python if any of these things interest you.
