ERF IMPORT OPERATOR

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday

About the position:

The purpose of the ERF Import Operator is to manage the inbound day to day groupage routes and adhere to various customs and network related duties as outlined below.

Whilst the Operator will have a responsibility for both Imports, Customs & Network they will also be required to provide cover in other areas of the department when required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:

Imports/Customs

  • Collate and actions customs doc uments, shipments and data to ensure swift processing
  • Liaising with European Partners and internal customers to find resolutions to issues within agreed service level agreements
  • Adhere to Hellmann customs compliance procedures
  • Liaise effectively with the internal Hellmann customs departments
  • Daily check to ensure deliveries are being processed efficiently and effectively according to lead times
  • Liaising with Customer and Delivery points across the UK
  • Processing EDI’s accurately and effectively as and when required
  • Reviewing the stock check / excess sheets
  • Correct handling of potential claims
  • Advising partners of any discrepancies of dimensions
  • Spotting and developing additional revenue opportunities
  • Daily maintenance of files ensuring all documentation is filed accurately.

Network

  • Checking of warehouse report for freight not shipped and updating our systems.
  • Checking the discrep for freight not received or damaged
  • Status management
  • Call through and pre-advise/discuss any Saturday delivery requests or out of gauge freight with our Network delivery partner.
  • Arrange re-routes for cross labelled freight/incorrect deliveries where.
  • Arrange service upgrades when necessary
  • When applicable raise PARS (Price Amendment Requests) for Pallettrack European Shipments
  • Deal with enquiries from all Network partners and where necessary pass details/query to relevant operator.
  • Ensure that the failure log for Network collections and deliveries is kept up to date and accurate at all times.
  • To provide cover in other areas of the department as required

About you:

The ideal candidate will be educated in Maths and English (oral and written) to GCSE, Standard Grade or equivalent; grade A-C and be able to demonstrate highly competent computer skills in all areas of
Microsoft office.

The ideal candidate will be hard working, diligent with a flexible, adaptable approach. They will be a good team player with the ability to work effectively on their own initiative and be able to work under pressure to meet tight deadline.

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of geographical areas within the UK along with high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Previous knowledge & experience of working in a Road freight environment is desirable, as is experience of working within a customer facing environment.
They will also possess good written and verbal communication skills and will have the ability to get on with people in a confident and respectful manner.

Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
