Lumentum is headquartered in Milpitas, California with R&D, manufacturing, and sales offices worldwide.We are seeking a talented and driven individual to provide leadership to the Wafer Fab Equipment Engineering group within the Caswell chip manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Manufacturing and Process Engineering functions to improve yields and efficiency by ensuring capable and suitable equipment engineering support is available as required. As a leader in continuous improvement, you will focus on improving equipment performance with particular emphasis on key production bottlenecks.Key Responsibilities
  • Direct, develop and lead the Wafer Fab Equipment Engineering function supporting 24x7 operations.
  • Plan and execute Planned Maintenance schedules required to support equipment performance needs.
  • Support continuous improvement in cost savings, quality, and resource utilization, e.g. improve equipment availability, improve mean time to failure, reduce the duration of maintenance events, ensure fitness for production use after maintenance interventions, etc.
  • Lead yield improvement actions as they relate to Wafer Fab Equipment Engineering activities.
  • Establish and maintain critical spares holdings.
  • Where relevant, manage raw materials (mainly process gases) and critical spares infeed and liaise with supply chain to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Report on progress and performance against targets and objectives.
  • Provide expert technical support for engineering initiatives, where appropriate.
  • Support the wider team in identifying and driving delivery of new tooling programs for continued manufacturing capability and capacity.
  • Participate in strategy planning for annual and 3yr planning cycles.
  • Ensure all chip manufacturing engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with Lumentum’s established policies and objectives.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2nd Class Bachelor’s Degree in Semiconductor Engineering or equivalent and relevant experience within an individual contributor role.
  • Demonstrable success in a supervisory role within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
SkillsEssential:
  • Experienced equipment engineering background with a strong emphasis on process and team development.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) such as PROMIS and MES concepts such as task scheduling, data collection, and SPC.
  • Knowledge of working within a high-technology manufacturing or production environment. We will consider candidates from backgrounds such as semiconductor, automotive, CNC etc
  • Ideally Knowledge of working within a cleanroom or laboratory environment.
  • Competent PC user (including the use of Microsoft Office).
Desirable
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of semiconductor fabrication techniques, especially with regard to the fabrication of III-V based devices.
  • Knowledge of photonic integrated circuit manufacture would be an advantage.
Other Requirements
  • Working within a cleanroom environment with the prerequisite use of cleanroom clothing.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Ability to use Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA); training will be given.
  • Available for out-of-hours contact to provide advice and direction.
