Base Location: Flexible UK & Ireland | We’re proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base ’home’ location to be one of our SSE offices (Glasgow or Perth is preferred).Salary: £61,100 - £91,700 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableTo lead, manage and undertake analysis to shape EPM’s Strategy and deliver this strategy in line with the overall Group Strategy. This includes presentations and papers to support key decisions on EPM, including updates to the Board as required. The role is also responsible for communicating the EPM strategy and updates to internal stakeholders and supporting Group Strategy with any information required for Investor Relations. Finally, the role is to provide support on strategy execution by supporting EPM on a programme of strategic projects.The key areas of responsibility within this role will be;
  • Analysing the external market and the implication for the future shape of the EPM function. Managing a range of projects on the market, financial, economic, technology, investment, policy and regulatory trends influencing EPM. Such activity includes supporting projects assessing EPM’s competitive advantages and organic/inorganic growth opportunities, including international markets.
  • Providing a consultancy service in relation to issues such as market intelligence, strategy and investment appraisal for the EPM leadership team. Assessing future growth opportunities and strategies for the EPM function. This includes working with the EPM Leadership team and identifying new areas/markets and assessing whether they would result in value being built, retained, or destroyed.
  • Supporting with the compilation of Group-wide updates and presentations for the Exco and Board. This will involve working with the different EPM teams to ensure the information is correct, and has been through the requisite approval processes. Additionally, this role will support execution of cross-EPM projects to maintain coordination and communication across the businesses. A key part of the role is to provide resource to Business Units and Corporate Finance where critical for delivering strategy (e.g. to support requests from the Group Executive Committee, or Group Board).
  • Providing high quality, informative and engaging presentations, and reports to communicate the EPM strategy to key internal stakeholders. Supporting external communication of EPM’s strategy and delivery (e.g. communications)
What do I need?To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
  • Experience of defining and implementing business strategy
  • Strong strategic thinking capablity, with the ability to fully understand emerging changes to the operating environment and how SSE can prosper within it.
  • Excellent strategy techniques and tools (e.g. competitor analysis, market size assessment)
  • Ability to influence decisions with clear presentation and objective analysis
  • Ability to efficiently support stratetic projects, drawing on virtual teams from around SSE group
  • Ability to manage M&A, due diligence and valuation processes
  • Strong commercial and business understanding of similar industries
  • Thorough understanding of market drivers, technologies and regulations
  • Understanding of and ability to produce key financial metrics assessment of business value (e.g. returns, earnings).
  • Ability to gather, compile and maintain reports to track KPIs across the business
  • Team player, able to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
