About The Role

Base Location: Perth

Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + performance related bonus and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

We are currently looking for a Senior Analyst to join our team.
  • You will undertake a key role in the business as part of a team who are responsible for position management, operational analysis, reporting of profit and loss accounts, financial forecasting and complex modelling based on customer requirements.
  • You will provide valuations and forecast earnings of physical assets (thermal power stations, gas storage, renewables assets) as well as nonstandard bilateral contracts (PPAs, swing contracts, index contracts, spreads and weather derivatives.
  • You will be comfortable with big data and demonstrate a flair for creating solutions to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • As a senior member of the team you will play an important part in fostering a culture of innovation and improvement, helping generate ideas and seeing them brought to fruition. You will work closely with the Head of Planning and Head of Risk assisting with identifying the priorities of the team and ensuring they are being met, and acting in a deputising capacity when necessary.
What do I need?
  • We’re looking for someone who will play a leading role in supporting the business in providing insight into financial risks through operating and trading in the wholesale energy markets.
  • Problem solving and mathematical modelling will be essential to your success in this role along with developing a comprehensive understanding of the European wholesale energy markets. Familiarity with Lacima Analytics, ZEMA, Power BI and Python (or equivalent) would be highly beneficial.
  • Professional qualifications such as the FRM or ERP qualification from the Global Association of Risk Professional (or equivalent) would also be advantageous.
  • You should be fully aware of the accounting and regulatory classification pertaining to energy commodities; have strategic awareness of the energy industry, and be a highly analytical thinker with the ability to distil complex information and communicate on a variety of levels.
  • You will be comfortable dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders within the company and effective in building strong working relationships with other business areas.
