TheEnvironmental, Quality and Audit Manager is a multi service, critical and senior management role with responsibility across the UK and though all departments and locations within the wider Gateshead Health NHS Foundations Trust Group.

This unique roles draws together the key responsibilities, leadership and management of;-
  • Group Sustainability
  • Group Waste Management
  • Company Information Governance including Freedom of Information
  • Company Quality Management business administration
  • Group Premises Assurance
  • Group Statutory Compliance and Assurance auditing
  • Day to day management & leadership for 2 direct line report – Estates & Facilities Compliance Auditor and IG. Quality and PAM Officer.
  • Multi supplier and contracts management
  • Freedom to act for £50k financial budget and authority
  • Autonomy of decisions
  • Freedom to Act in Representing the groups interest in NHS regional waste and sustainability contract negotiations, strategies, budgets, and alignments
  • Raise and validate Purchase orders against invoices approval of spend
  • Corporate responsibility for the provision of information systems for the organisation, in regards to Sustainability Waste, Information Governance and Auditing programs.
QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

QE Facilities work to their own Terms and Conditions and these are not the same as Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Terms and Conditions. This is not an Agenda for Change Pay Rate.
  • Champion and promote GHNT’s environmental agenda, be the lead specialist for all aspects of environmental management and sustainability, work to increase staff awareness of environmental matters and co-ordinate a GHNT wide approach in areas such as carbon reduction, waste (clinical and non-clinical), energy, fuel, travel and transport, procurement and use of resources.
  • Prepare sustainability reports detailing progression on actions set in the Sustainable Development Management Plan, which is to be reviewed and updated on an annual basis, publishing results via the Good Corporate Citizenship Model Sustainable Development Assessment Tool and presented to the GHNT and QEF Boards for assurance.
  • To investigate, identify and promote opportunities for improvements in environmental performance and assist the Head of Estates with Business Plans/Cases to reduce overall cost and environmental impact of our waste activities, including better segregation, use of alternative and new technologies for waste disposal, compliant with current legislation and assist with Business Plans/Cases.
  • Provide advice in relation to climate adaptation and work in conjunction with appropriate Managers to assist with identifying climate change risks, formalising climate change risk assessments, developing climate adaptation action plans and assist with business continuity planning..
  • Manage waste collection and disposal contracts including clinical, commercial/office and special hazardous wastes of the Trusts and partners; including resolving the day to day contract issuers, annual registration and contract management.
  • Responsible for reviewing/auditing the entire waste disposal requirements for GHNT. Develop and promote policies & procedures and training material to ensure for the correct segregation, handling and disposal and recycling of waste, including working with site based teams, clinical, hotel services and waste produces and to monitor to ensure correct procedures are followed, and to provide training and support on these procedures.
