Scantec Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading FMCG Food Manufacturing business to assist in their search to find an Environment & Sustainability Manager for their site near Perth. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a market leader!
Role Profile:
The Environmental Manager is responsible for overseeing the environmental & sustainability performance of the site and ensuring the treatment plant is operating within its permitted approved limits.
Summary of core responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy
- Lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices including driving efficiencies in utilities, whilst working in collaboration with on site departments
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with British & adopted European Legislation
- Liaise with relevant bodies such as the EA, local authority, and other public bodies
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to management and regulatory bodies
- Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of emerging environmental issues
- Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical, and social responsibility and address any issues arising
- Develop and implement environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment.
- Train staff at all levels on environmental issues and responsibilities including the training of WWTP Operator to a high standard and create a training programme
- Participate in environmental education and research
- Effective management of wastewater treatment plant both in and out of hours, through managing of the WWTP Operator
- Maintain ISO 1400 standard active and updated at site level
Skills and Experience required:
- Primary degree subjects such as environmental and earth sciences, environmental engineering, or relevant field
- Strong interpersonal skills, and proven ability to work in a collaborative and influential manner with a range of colleagues
- Dynamic, high energy, pro-active, people focused approach
- Excellent written and oral communication skills - ability to present written reports and documents and influence and persuade at a senior level
