Job Summary

Responsible for the assessment, application, execution, and on-going management of environmental compliance systems and permits at the digester-based biogas projects that are operated and maintained by Dynamic Renewables. These projects collect agricultural waste (primarily cow manure) and process it to produce value added products such as Renewable Natural Gas, animal bedding, and soil amendments for sale as well as the recovery of nutrients and clean water for re-use or discharge to the environment as applicable.

An employee in this position interacts regularly with local, state, and federal agencies as well as a wide variety of internal and external professionals and the public. This work is primarily conducted in the corporate office but will also include some travel to project sites in the field. A successful employee in this position will display great integrity, be dependable and detail orientated, and be capable of fulfilling expectations with minimal direct supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Collaborate with both corporate and project-specific staff to ensure that environmental compliance systems and permits are developed, implemented, and managed appropriately to satisfy the mandates of local, state, and federal authorities.
  • Collaborate with third-party professionals to identify and avert, mitigate, or manage environmental risks during the development of new projects. This includes the completion of any prerequisite sampling, testing, and reporting.
  • Identify, apply for, and ensure both the acquisition and execution of any and all necessary environmental permits necessary for the construction and operation of new projects.
  • Attend public hearings and townhall-style meetings to intelligently discuss the environmental permitting process and politely address any environmental compliance-related concerns raised by the public or local government figures.
Minimum Education/Experience Required
  • Valid driver’s license; and
  • Basic Computer Literacy; and
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance regulations as defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency; state departments of natural resources in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota; and with county-level regulators in the same states as they pertain to agricultural waste and wastewater processing facilities, specifically including air [emission] permits, underground construction permits, and permits to handle, store, and field apply manure; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Bachelor’s degree (with 3 years’ experience) or an associate degree (with 5 years’ experience) in an applicable field of study such as environmental engineering, environmental law, wastewater management, chemistry or chemical engineering, hazardous materials management, or another relevant discipline in the natural or physical sciences, industrial hygiene, or regulatory compliance; and
  • Proficiency using environmental compliance software and tools; and
  • Certifications in relevant environmental compliance areas is a plus.
Physical Demands
  • Position requires minimal lifting (up to 25 lbs.), mostly desk work
  • Strength and flexibility to work at a desk for up to eight hours

Compensation

Compensation is paid on a bi-weekly basis and will be consummate with the value and experience the candidate brings to the role. In addition to base salary, compensation includes the option to participate in company sponsored medical, dental, and vision insurance plans and in a retirement savings program as well as paid personal time off and holidays.
