Role / Team Overview

Savills the international property advisor is expanding its Environmental Planning capability across the UK, with specific opportunities in its offices in Brighton and Leeds / Manchester.

Savills operates the largest planning consultancy in the UK, operating from 24 locations across the country. Our network of offices covers all regions of the UK including the most recent addition in Brighton, which we are now looking to expand as well as our presence in Leeds and Manchester. In all of our key regional offices the Planning teams operate alongside other property advisory services allowing cross-disciplinary work on a wide variety of projects.

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work nationally across our office network advising on the largest and most complex projects, including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects. The candidates will have experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams on major projects including those in sensitive environmental contexts. A positive and creative response to problem solving is essential as well as a track record in leading and managing highly professional teams and building strong working relationships.

This initiative is supported by the extensive knowledge, resources and research within the national and international Savills network, and as an integral member of the team you will be expected to liaise with your colleagues and contribute to business development throughout Savills both within and beyond the Planning division.

There is also the opportunity to participate in the national working group that has been established to direct the company’s strategy in this important and growing market place.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The provision of strategic planning and environmental consultancy services to a first class standard, including:

 working with other members of the Planning division to deliver strategic advice for a range of public, private and institutional clients;

 consistently delivering exceptional performance advising on some of the most complex development and infrastructure projects in the country;

 contributing to and supporting business development initiatives and tenders, targeting and winning new business, and agreeing the scope of instructions and fees as appropriate;

 representing the firm and the division in a manner consistent with the firm’s ethos, promoting Savills and its various service lines; and

 encouraging good communication between Planning departments across the country and with all other disciplines in the company.

Technical experience:-

 Membership of a relevant professional body, including RTPI, IEMA, Society for the Environment.

 Relevant experience with comprehensive technical knowledge and a strong understanding of the NSIP and DCO processes and Environmental Impact Assessment.

 Knowledge and experience of related and similar consenting and regulatory processes such as Environmental Permitting, HRA, Electricity Act S36, T&WA Orders, Harbours Act Orders, Scottish and Welsh parallel regimes

 Specialist knowledge in areas such as Social Value, Health Impact Assessment, COMAH, modelling of atmospheric and acoustic environments, and carbon accounting beneficial

 Financial and commercial acumen with strong planning, budgeting and operational reporting skills

 Clear written and verbal communication style

 Highly competent and skilled with Microsoft Office, including Excel. Training will be provided in respect of internal systems.
