About us

Cence is a new healthcare communications agency: a team of experts who partner with clients to maximize the understanding of scientific evidence. We are dedicated to providing a supportive environment that cultivates commercial and editorial careers for talented individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and can think innovatively to help increase the impact of scientific material when published.

Cence is part of AMICULUM, an independent family of healthcare communications, consulting and learning businesses with offices in New Zealand, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, UAE, Switzerland, UK and USA. Our agencies offer services in medical communications, healthcare learning, clinical and commercial consultancy, market access, rare diseases, genomic medicine, digital engagement and advocacy.

The opportunity

Our core expertise at Cence involves developing engaging, accurate scientific content and delivering it through a variety of communication channels for maximum reach and impact. Our teams have an excellent reputation with our clients for the quality of work that we deliver. As a result of this success, Cence has created a new opportunity for an entry-level medical writer to join our team and be part of the future of our business. Working across a range of therapy areas and accounts, you would deliver high-quality publications and, in collaboration with our in-house Design and Digital teams, your role would also require you to develop innovative enhanced content for our global pharmaceutical clients.

This full-time role can be based from our offices in Bollington (Cheshire), Manchester, Oxford or Richmond (London), with home-working flexibility.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Generating captivating content that is scientifically accurate and aligned with client objectives
  • Contributing to innovative ideas for sharing information within the publications landscape
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues to help ensure projects are delivered to expected standards, within agreed timelines
  • Adapting writing styles for different target audiences, including client teams, healthcare professionals and patients
  • Working effectively and professionally with client teams, authors and collaborators

About you

You will be a life-sciences graduate, with an understanding of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, who is ready to embark on a professional journey in healthcare communications. As an exceptional communicator, you will be passionate about transforming complex scientific information into clear, accurate and engaging content. No prior experience is required and full training will be provided, so you will need to be eager to learn and ready to receive feedback as part of your development. You will reflect the key attributes we look for in all colleagues, which are:

  • Intellectual curiosity: you will have an accomplished academic record in biomedical science (MSc or PhD preferred)
  • Teamwork and collaboration: you will be an enthusiastic team member, collaborating with colleagues both locally and internationally to deliver industry-leading client service
  • An exceptional eye for detail: you will be passionate about the technical accuracy of your work
  • Accountability and responsibility: you will take responsibility for your workload and deadlines

We value creativity and encourage colleagues to offer ideas that further the success of our business, and in return, we offer competitive salaries and a great benefits package, including two industry-leading annual bonus schemes, a generous pension scheme, life and income protection insurance, and 25 days’ annual leave plus public holidays.
