The primary role is to ensure contract documentation is technically accurate and in accordance with current industry standards, support team members during the assessment of sections of carriageway to establish a suitable surfacing treatment, liaison with client, public and local councillors, attend meetings, undertake programming duties, and review contractor invoicing.

Based in the Highway Maintenance Team in Trowbridge, you will need to create documentation for the delivery of carriageway surfacing / surface treatments & carriageway improvements on behalf of Wiltshire Council.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • An HNC, degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or working towards this qualification.
Essential Criteria
  • Have a working knowledge and experience in highways and resurfacing methods.
  • Strong technical skills relating to the design of highway maintenance schemes including surfacing, traffic management and road markings.
  • Sound working knowledge in creating and critically reviewing scheme documentation.
  • Applied knowledge of quality, safety, and environmental processes.
  • IT skills (e.g., MS Office suite)
  • Strong organisational, inter personnel and communication skills.
  • Full driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of Client liaison.
  • Working towards Incorporated status (or equivalent)
  • Experience of collaborative working with Contractors.
  • A working knowledge of New Roads & Streetworks Act 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004.
  • Proactive, inclusive, and collaborative attitude.
Responsibilities
  • To lead the delivery of various surfacing treatments schemes, while reporting to the team leader.
  • Creation of robust design solutions which meet with defined objectives and constraints.
  • To work as part of a collaborative team with the Contractor / Client / Public.
  • To prepare scheme documentation.
  • To oversee, direct and mentor staff undertaking technical delivery and site monitoring activities.
