As we work towards our mission and goals, UKAEA has devised values (Innovative, Committed, Trusted and Collaborative) that capture the spirit of how we work.Job DescriptionWho are we looking for?We are looking for an experienced Engineering Operations Manager to manage the maintenance, operations, and configuration of all the mechanical and electrical systems within our Fusion Technology Facility in South Yorkshire. Our recently built facility seeks to address the challenges of first-generation fusion power stations, and is home to world class rigs for the testing of components for use in Fusion Reactors.Responsible for establishing operational and maintenance procedures for all of the equipment, you will be comfortable working independently and must be self-motivated in your approach. You will possess excellent leadership, communication and problem solving attributes and will be confident working as part of a collaborative team to achieve quality outcomes. You must have gained experience of completing projects to a high standards and ideally will have delivered solutions of engineering integrity commensurate with nuclear operations.What will you be responsible for?- Ensuring the facilities have adequate documentation for operation, maintenance and training of all the mechanical and electrical systems
- Acting as a focal point for shift teams on operational issues, technical issues and coordinate remedial actions
- Becoming a subject matter expert for developing and applying safe operational methods on the test rigs within the facility
- Managing and lead an operations shift team during maintenance shutdowns
- Maintaining the safety performance of the work-hall and test rigs
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness for the facility
- Spares and inventory management - asset tracking
- Organising of shift rosters to ensure resourcing levels are suitable for operational requirements, and support with the establishment of long-term shift solutions
- Experience in generating formal operations documentation and / or working within a highly regulated environment
- Recognised qualification in mechanical engineering at HND/degree level
- An understanding and previous experience of writing and reviewing safe systems of work and its use to control plant and personnel risks
- Demonstrable experience in a systems-engineering approach to long-term plant performance and availability
- Capable of defining, structuring and delivering technical projects
- Previous experience in managing and supervising technicians and the ability to lead a team
- IOSH Managing Safely or another relevant HSE qualification.
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and a nuclear, process or chemical qualification
- Experience of static/pulsed magnets, high pressure and cryogenic plant
- Prior evidence of decision making and initiative in commissioning of process plant
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, such as EU Machinery Directive and ISO safety standards and experience in the maintenance / or operation of a process plant, or in a laboratory environment
- Chartered engineer or be able to demonstrate working at that level
- EngTech registration
