About the opportunity:
Our Generation Services business is entering an exciting phase of opportunity by supporting our key client through its business transformation as well as continuing to diversify and increase our overall client base. We are involved in lifetime and strategic partnership arrangements and delivery contracts and are a trusted partner, essential to the safe and secure supply of carbon free generation here in the UK. Our heritage and pedigree dates back many decades including the key roles we performed in the design and construction of UK nuclear power stations. Our work is varied covering New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling through the nuclear lifecycle and our capabilities are in demand to support business teams across our nuclear business. Our Strategy will see us increasing involvement in net zero carbon power projects and their synergies for the decades ahead.
We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager with extensive experience in the nuclear industry, or a similar highly regulated industry, to join our business. This role will be based either from one of our Generation Services offices (Newcastle, Knutsford, Gloucester or Dorchester) or home / remote working is also available and is in line with the Jacobs ‘New Way of Working’ following the covid-19 pandemic. Flexibility is key to our future business strategy and to our ‘New Way of Working’ plans. With this in mind we are actively considering flexible work patterns for all of our roles. Feel free to apply and we can discuss both hours and working patterns to suit the needs of all. There will be a need for periodic visits to client sites, as projects require.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a capability to lead, co-ordinate and direct a multi-discipline engineering team to deliver complex engineering solutions against demanding milestones. They will have demonstrated the ability to take ownership of technical challenges, develop a strategy and implement the solution through engagement with internal and external stakeholders and managing the technical project team to deliver to time, cost and quality. The project responsibilities will be varied and challenging and range across a typical project lifecycle, including bidding, definition of requirements, design and implementation, into delivery of commissioned systems ready to support the needs of our clients. The role will also support the Project Manager with respect to resourcing and financial elements, such as costs and schedule, and supporting change control and identification and control of technical risks. This role may suit an enthusiastic senior engineer looking for the next challenge.
