Engineering Manager

A high-volume manufacturing business are looking to appoint an Engineering Manager for their Mansfield plant. This is a new role which has become available following the retirement later this year of a key engineering leader and subsequent re-organisation of the engineering function.

We are seeking a qualified engineer who has progressed into a leadership role and is seeking an opportunity to implement processes to ensure increased OEE and effective planned preventative maintenance programmes. You will work closely with the operational leadership team taking ownership for planning and implementing engineering plans, utilising the most suitable continuous improvements tools and techniques, and creating training and developmental plans for the engineering team. The engineering team includes, mechanical, electrical, tool room, site services and all infrastructures.

Summary Of Core Responsibilities As Engineering Manager
  • Effective running of the engineering and site services functions
  • Development of a preventative maintenance culture and coordination of maintenance activities to support production & technical teams including developing measures and tracking of key performance metrics.
  • Support the development and performance management of shift engineers as well as the direct members of your team.
  • Build credibility and momentum of the transformation initiative through direct engagement with leaders and employees, together with their team of Change Agents.
  • Ensure regular reporting relating to the adoption and/or resistance to the new ways of working, including identifying of potential roadblocks.
  • Develop solutions and resolve complex issues through the notable depth of analytical, technical and organisational experience.
  • Ensuring compliance to health & safety standards and other statutory requirements
To be a successful applicant for this Engineering Manager role you will have the following experience and skills.
  • Qualified engineer ideally to HNC/HND or Degree Level
  • Experience of leading engineering teams within a component manufacturing business.
  • A process and methodical approach to analysis and then implement relevant process improvements.
  • A completer finisher.
  • Excellent ability to be able to improvement plant performance through people and process.
  • Experience in the development, management and reporting of revenue and capital budgeting
  • Sound knowledge of a manufacturing environment and continuous improvement tools.
  • Working knowledge of SAP systems
  • Strong people development skills with the ability to build strong, lasting relationships and ensure a strong succession planning foundation is in place.
