The Role

  • Lead the design, development & delivery of Brake System components, with focus on Brake Pedal Box
  • Brakes & Steering System lead for PLM & BoM management

Main responsibilities


  • Lead the successful delivery of designs to meet program-specific targets including functional performance, quality, cost, mass, timing and sustainability
  • Take a leading role in organisation, management & control of Brakes & Steering System components within BOM & PLM Systems
  • Work in close partnership with suppliers to achieve optimum design for manufacture
  • Design of complex structures using Catia V5 (inc. detail design, drafting, GD&T, etc.)
  • Support the creation & management of bill of materials, technical specifications, DFMEAs and DVPs
  • Support prototype builds, validation (component, system & vehicle) and launch
  • Work seamlessly across the teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Service, etc.) to ensure a collaborative approach is applied to the delivery of the project(s)

The Person

  • Must be Degree qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2yrs experience in Chassis Systems (Brakes preferred)
  • Skilled user of Catia V5 with Teamcenter PLM experience is preferred
  • Should have an understanding of the full product lifecycle, from concept through to vehicle launch
  • An appreciation of chassis component & system attributes as well as manufacturing / service requirements
  • Strong team player who can work effectively with other functional teams and business functions to achieve the best possible results for the product / programme
  • Ability to prioritise workload & manage external inputs / requests with minimal supervision
  • Genuine interest in making efficient, sustainable products
  • Willing to take responsibility and make decisions based on best judgement where data is not available
