About you
As our engagement coach, you will be passionate about young people and education. You will use this in post to increase participation and engagement among the young learners. The primary aim of this post is to deliver support, mentoring and coaching sessions to registered students who are part of our Alternative Education Courses. The Engagement Coach will require delivery of activities including team-building games, building social interaction and playing a pivotal role in mentoring, supporting the learner’s needs and aiding retention of learners on the course.

About the role
As our coach you must have a can do attitude, excellent communications skills and a nurturing approach to join our team. You will easily engage with young people, support their behaviour, listening skills and encourage a positive attitude towards learning. Experience working in a SEND setting, particularly students with ASD would be an advantage, as well as experience working in a PRU and an understanding of restorative practice. You will develop activities and resources to meet the need of learners, liaise with the school lead to set targets and report on progress and behaviour. Supporting student resilience, social,emotional, mental health and wellbeing is a key part of this role. Flexibility is essential for this role as no two days are the same. You will be joining a committed team who want to make a real difference to the lives of young people.


Role and responsibilities
  • To ensure that all engagement sessions are planned and delivered to a high standard.
  • To assist where necessary support those who need extra help by offering 1 to 1
guidance.
  • To support the participation, retention and progression of learners in their sessions.
  • Liaise with other staff members effectively.
  • Supervise the young people at all times.
  • To attend and engage in all relevant staff meetings, and maintain effective
communication with staff, learners and other relevant organisations.
  • To undertake training and CPD as necessary and relevant to the post.
  • To be familiar with the LMP Code of Conduct and all operational, Health & Safety,
Child Protection and Data Protection policies.
Education and Experience
  • DBS (essential)
  • Coaching, Mentoring Assessing or Teaching qualification
  • 3 or more years of experience working with a variety of age groups including 16 plus.
  • Experience of delivering training and working in diverse community and/or sports
settings.
  • Experience of working with young people who are hard to engage with.
