The Organisational Development team at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is looking to recruit an Internal Engagement and Communications officer to join the team on a permanent basis.

As the Internal Engagement and Communications Officer, you will enjoy a fast-paced environment and be an excellent communicator and flexible and innovative in your style and approach to delivery. This is an exciting time to work with the council as the Covid-19 challenges faced over the last 18 months are helping to shape the plans for how the council operates in the future.

Are an experienced engagement and communications professional who is skilled in connecting a large workforce with the organisational purpose, vision and values

Understand what it takes to deliver best in class engagement and communication activities within a large public facing organisation.

Have innovation, creative drive and industry best practice to bring to this key role

Have a passion for creating and implementing internal engagement and communication activities that will ensure that internal messages are engaging and consistent across the organisation

Have the ability to engage and work with all levels of the workforce from our Elected Members, Chief Executive and Senior Leaders to our key front-line workers

Have the professional gravitas to represent the council with other local authorities, partner organisations, outside agencies and the private sector.

Can fit into our hardworking, friendly team and hit the ground running; a motivated individual who goes the extra mile to provide an exceptional service.

Whilst this role is predominantly internally focused there will be a requirement to provide support to the wider communications team as part of an ongoing out of hours communication and media rota.

Reporting to the Organisational Development Business Partner, the successful applicant will play a key role in helping the team to deliver the Workforce Strategy and supporting the delivery of the Council Plan.

In line with current Covid-19 Government guidance the Organisational Development team are currently working from home with only very occasional requirements to attend the office base at Riverside House, Rotherham. It is anticipated that the team will adopt a hybrid way of working in the future which will include both home and office working based on service and customer needs.

This post will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2022 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
