Employment Support Officer

We are looking to recruit an Employment Support Officer to work on a European Social Funded project called Journey First, to support people facing complex barriers to progressing in education and entering employment.

Journey First is a holistic training and employment support service for young people and adults facing barriers to entering employment or education, for example long term unemployment, mental health conditions or learning disabilities. This programme is being delivered across Cheshire and Warrington.

This vacancy is based in the Skills and Employment team, who support adults with complex barriers to progress towards employment. We are looking for skilled, proactive and flexible individuals who will really want to make a difference to adults to progress in their lives.

The project offers intensive 1-1 support to adults, with staff co-located within existing multi agency teams across the borough and in our Work Zones. The multi-agency teams focus on prevention, early intervention and de-escalation of a range of complex problems that prevent individuals from being able to focus on progression into training and employment.

Staff based in our Work Zone and outreach settings offer Vocational Profiling and identify individual support interventions required which will inform action planning, outlining choices for the future in relation to participation in short, medium and long term outcomes for education, training and employment. This intensive support model also enables ongoing ‘in work’ support to increase chances of stability and sustainable employment.

The contractual work location for this role is listed above however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
