About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to work within the innovative Compass Phoenix team in North Yorkshire.

Compass Phoenix works with children and young people aged 9 – 19 (and up to 25 for those with special educational needs or disabilities) who may benefit from receiving early help and prevention work in relation to mild to moderate emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.

Working alongside colleagues who deliver direct interventions to children and young people, our Emotional Wellbeing Training and Consultation Workers support schools and colleges across North Yorkshire to apply a whole-school approach to emotional wellbeing and mental health. We provide a flexible offer of workforce development and training to schools in relation to children and young people’s mental health.

Key responsibilities of the Emotional Wellbeing Training and Consultation Worker’s role include:

  • Delivering training to schools with the aim of increasing staff’s knowledge, confidence and competence in dealing with children and young people’s low level mental health issues.
  • Providing professional consultation to school staff by offering advice, guidance and coaching in relation to specific children and young people who are struggling with emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.
  • Respond to messages received from children and young people via the ChatHealth text messaging service BUZZ US.

About You

This is a part time role working Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4.30pm, 14.5 hours per week. (with some flexibility to attend meetings outside these hours)

You will be adept at delivering training and have experience of working with mental health and emotional wellbeing needs. You will be able to connect and actively work towards developing and sustaining effective working relationships with key partners, positively promoting Compass’ services, its values and ethos.

You will be comfortable delivering training on a virtual platform and creating training videos and webinars.

Applicants must have a qualification in mental health or working with children & young people together, there will be some requirement to attend occasional meeting in North Yorkshire so a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle would be beneficial.

Safeguarding will be an integral aspect of the role, and as such you will promote children’s welfare at all times.

The aim of the service is to improve outcomes for children and young people in relation to their emotional wellbeing and mental health by strengthening the range of mental health support available and helping them to make sustainable lifestyle changes that will improve their long-term health, resilience, and emotional wellbeing, and equip them to reach their potential.
