Role Purpose:

The Email Marketing Manager has overall responsibility of utilising email communication tools to market Fortnum & Mason and increase brand awareness. They are expected to manage the usage of email communications and develop marketing strategies and distribution techniques in order to execute campaigns that successfully engage consumers across ecommerce and stores and ultimately drive profit.

They will work very closely with other colleagues in the Online, Marketing and Customer Insights teams in order to implement their ideas and support strategies. This role will have line management responsibility of one Email Marketing Executive.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Own a performance, engagement and brand building led strategy.
  • Manage the company’s email strategy, roadmap, and email communication plan
  • Implement email marketing campaigns, overseeing all aspects from design to copy, to technical development and post-campaign analysis
  • Ensure that all campaigns are aligned with the company’s overall strategy, branding, marketing, and sales targets
  • Generate, analyse, and report on email campaign metrics to identify strengths and weaknesses to guide future recommendations, improvements, and campaign optimisation
  • Collaborate with key teams to ensure there is consistent messaging and content across all Digital channels
  • Work closely with the relevant teams/stakeholders to develop campaigns promoting key product areas and brand messages and update an ongoing schedule of content
  • Manage the automated trigger email campaigns throughout the customer lifecycle to maximise engagement and sales as well as identify opportunities to create new or optimise existing campaigns
  • Manage the customer email database, ensuring that we are protecting the deliverability reputation and all email lists and filters
  • Carry out segmentation of the database and audience building inline with F&M’s customer profile groups
  • Manage a process of A/B and Multi-Variant Testing to continually improve performance through optimised messaging and targeting
  • Ensure that all email campaigns are accessible and functional on both mobile and desktop devices
  • Create and test new email marketing templates
  • Create quality content and proofread any copy that needs reviewing
  • Reporting to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager with sales revenue and sessions generated through email marketing campaigns through reporting with manual data
  • Ensure that all email campaigns comply with current email best practice in the industry and GDPR

We expect the successful candidate to have the following skills and experience:

Required skills:

  • The ability to work in a high demand environment, prioritise, and work to tight deadlines in a calm and effective way
  • Ability to manage Revenue and targeted engagement
  • Passion for luxury retail as well as an understanding of the wider retail landscape
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience working across email marketing/CRM
  • HTML and CSS knowledge is a must
  • Experience in data segmentation and audience building within ESP environments
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent literacy skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programmes
  • Knowledge of email best practices and A/B testing methodologies
  • Strong understanding of ESP/CRM systems
  • Possessing experience reporting and analysing data
  • Demonstrating expert level knowledge of basic computer systems
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
