We are working on behalf of a world leading manufacturer and currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at their site in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Reporting to the Manufacturing & Engineering Manager and working as part of the Maintenance team, the Electrical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for providing preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across the production facility. The production areas include a large press shop and polishing facility, which employ a significant amount of robotic automation in conjunction with manual intervention. Main Purpose of the Electrical Maintenance Engineer: Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, fixtures, P.L.C.’s and robots (A.B.B.) using hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments. Core Duties of the Electrical Maintenance Engineer:-Attend breakdowns as requested, assess cause, strip down and determine best method of repair and affect repair.
  • Able to read electrical, British and European standard drawings.
  • Install replacement components or carry out repairs using necessary equipment.
  • Reassemble, check and test run all equipment for effective and safe operation following repair and return to Production.
  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance checks to a pre-determined schedule (Pemac) and reporting on Pemac work order.
  • Assess requirements for repair/replacement parts and, in conjunction with Management, determine the best time for repairs to be carried out.
  • Carry out repairs
  • Attend to equipment faults in response to requests from Management as a result of machinery malfunctioning and carry our adjustments and/or repairs as necessary. Complete required documentation i.e. Pemac work orders or time sheets.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits to electrical engineering drawings, equipment and fixtures using multi meter.
  • Where necessary, identify appropriate replacement part using manufacturer’s specifications, catalogues etc. and order from Maintenance office.
  • Ensure all equipment conforms to relevant health and safety legislation after repair. Strictly adhere to safe working practices, procedures and risk assessments when repairing machinery, entering confined spaces, working at height etc. along with the correct P.P.E. Ensure appropriate isolation and key exchange procedures are carried out.
  • Direct and train Apprentices in electrical installation, electrical/mechanical maintenance, electrical/mechanical machine repair and electrical wiring as requested by Management. Skills / Experience:
  • Familiarity with a factory environment.
  • Electrical apprenticeship /HND/HNC or similar in Electrical Engineering, etc.
  • Making decisions and problem solving. Communicate with Team Leaders, peers, etc.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, gather information via manufacturer’s hand books, drawings and/or internet. Evaluate information and determine compliance with standards. Salary / Benefits: £42,182pa + Benefits
