Summary Purpose Of The Position
  • The EHS Specialist will have an engineering biased combined with regulatory and compliance knowledge to assist in the design of new or modified equipment and machinery.
  • To be part of a team providing support to the manufacturing operation and ensuring the activities, equipment and systems used to manufacture product, is done so in way that will protect people from illness, injury and will not impact the environment or cause damage to property.
  • Support will be achieved through being part of the design, change and ongoing evaluation of processes and equipment to ensure they meet machine guarding requirements.
  • Have adequate knowledge of engineering and of health and safety to ensure that chemicals, machinery and equipment will not cause harm to people, the environment or damage to property.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure processes are in place so new or existing systems, equipment or machinery will not cause harm to people, property or the environment.
  • Support and implement systems to ensure that processes maintain compliance to all legal, corporate policy and procedures.
  • Support EHS activities and programme deployment between operational and support functions across the site.
  • Built functional competence within operational and support functions.

Knowledge & Key Skills

POSITION COMPETENCIES:
  • Understanding of Environmental, Health & Safety legal requirements.
  • Understands the requirements of standards and codes of price for machinery, equipment systems.
  • Experience in machine guarding.
  • Leadership, coaching & mentoring skills
  • Effective Communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to collaborate, negotiate and influence others.
  • Ability to build functional competence within the organisation.
  • Time management skills and ability to balance priorities and multiple demands
  • Ability to conduct and manage risk assessment systems
  • Understands the principles of EHS management systems
  • Understands hierarchy of control.
  • Problem solving skills, can conduct root cause analysis and formal investigations
  • Hold recognised qualifications for the position in both Engineering and EHS.

Miscellaneous
  • Must be a determined proactive self-starter
  • Support implementation of Policies and procedures

Main Duties
  • Providing support in the identification, evaluation and implementation of systems and controls to new and existing machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct compliance assessments to current legislation and standards
  • Maintain standard work to support site operations
  • Act as Coach and Mentor at all levels of the organisation to build a positive and proactive EHS culture.
  • Be a champion of Danaher Business System driving improvements and ensuring sustainment.
  • Manage, design and deliver training to ensure compliance and building functional competency.
  • Function as part of the site EHS Team in the deployment Environmental, Health and Safety systems.
