A fantastic opportunity has presented for a self-motivated and committed individual to develop their education, development and training skills in this senior role. We are looking for an astute pharmacy technician to join our diverse team to support the education, development and training needs of the pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians and the wider pharmacy team.

The main purpose of the role is to organise, facilitate and deliver the training and development of various members of pharmacy staff, including but not limited to Pharmacy Technicians, pre-registration training Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy assistants, pre-registration trainee Pharmacists, apprentices and work experience students. The post holder will act as line manger for pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians, apprentices, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants.

You will have:
  • Significant post-qualification experience in a hospital setting as a registered pharmacy technician.
  • Experience in training and supervision of others.
  • Working under pressure, prioritising work as appropriate to achieve deadlines.
The post holder will be required to:
  • Highlight any additional training needs within the department.
  • Co-lead on educational material to support training to staff.
  • Present regular updates to the Pharmacy Operations Manager, Pharmacy Team Leaders and Technical Managers.
  • Development and implementation of SOP’s and guidelines relating to workforce development.
  • Maintain competency as a medicines management .
  • Maintain accuracy checking competency through regular checking sessions.
The post offers in-service development training and the opportunity to gain valuable skills in a senior role. A requirement to participate in evenings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis will be necessary.

CARE-COLLEAGUES-COMMUNITIES-COLLABORATION

Your main duties duties will be managing the training of technical and non technical staff, taking responsibility for solving complex problems and dealing with a broad range of issues, which are often unpredictable.

The Education and Training Technician manages the pre-registration technicians including training, appraisal and performance management.

To ensure training packages e.g. medicines management reflect the current working practises and are kept up to date.

To co-ordinate the dispensing accuracy assessment with the Pharmacy Team Leader dispensary and ward services.

To facilitate ACT and medicines management training to keep accurate records ensuring all staff qualification is current, including final assessment, to identify re-accreditation dates and carry out assessment.

The post holder will lead in identifying the education and training needs for all Pharmacy technical staff, which will support the direction of pharmacy services.

The post holder will also ensure all Pharmacy Technicians and support staff have the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to practice safely and efficiently at all levels.
